Mission Statement

Bears LA is dedicated to promoting camaraderie, community and brotherhood while giving to charitable organizations and encouraging community services.

Who we are:

Bears LA was created in 1993 to provide a social outlet for the Los Angeles Bear community and surrounding areas.

We are a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.

What we do:

We sponsor and organize a variety of social events and produce the Mr. Bear LA and Mr. LA Leather Bear Contests.

We are an all-inclusive group, supporting camaraderie,
fun and friendship, while giving to charitable causes and encouraging community service.

On October 7th, the Transitivity & Gender Inclusion Training was hosted by Charlie Ocean and sponsored by BearsLA Los Angeles Leather Coalition DomCom, and the Regiment of the Black and Tans

We’re proud to share that our Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusion in Leather Communities Training is now available on the Bears LA website.

Our bear and leather communities include trans, femme, and nonbinary bears, and they belong here fully, safely, and without question. This training is part of our ongoing commitment to education, accountability, and creating spaces rooted in respect, consent, and care.

The session offers practical guidance, real-world scenarios, and tools for building more inclusive community spaces. Not just in theory, but in how we show up for one another every day.

As one participant shared: “As a trans person navigating the leather community, I feel heard. I feel hopeful.”

This resource is available to members, leaders, volunteers, titleholders, and anyone who wants to help make the Los Angeles leather community safer and more welcoming for everyone.

Education is love in action. Growth is a shared responsibility. And this work continues together.

Singles or doubles go belly-to-belly in furocious displays of body and appetite to prove who truly has what it takes to be Top Bear.

Parade of Bears
Display a singlet look that shows your unique Bear-sona!

Each entry will represent a bear of their choosing. We want to see what makes your bear unique.

Round 2
Bear Bodies
Show off what makes you a bear.

Body hair, muscle, belly, butt! We want to see what your bear daddy gave you.

Round 3
Beary Hungry
Category is caloric intake. The food goes in the belly.

Eat a cake on stage or have your partner feed you a rotisserie chicken. We want to see your bear appetite.

More than watering holes, they were the heartbeat of a culture that still shapes us. One Night Only: One Way honors those spaces and the people who fought for joy, freedom, and visibility; their legacy living on through each of us.

This night is about honoring the One Way, celebrating the culture bars of that era created, and reminding each other why these spaces matter.
